Crustal Displacement Theory

Firstly, a brief lesson in plate tectonics...

Uppermost layer of the Earth

The lithosphere is broken up into tectonic plates, which move from 0 - 100 mm annually. The plates move because Earth’s lithosphere has higher strength and lower density than the underlying asthenosphere. Density variation in the mantle causes convection currents - where magma heats up and expands, causing it to become less dense and rise above cooler, more dense magma, which sinks. These currents help drive the movement of the tectonic plates. Where plates meet, their relative motion determines the type of boundary, e.g. mountain-building where plates move towards one another, volcanic activity where plates move apart.

The Crustal Displacement theory states that the entirety of the Earth’s crust can shift very suddenly in one piece. The theory was backed by Albert Einstein himself!

Professor Charles Hapgood developed the Crustal Displacement theory upon finding ancient maps in the library of congress, showing ancient coastlines and a large southern continent that does not exist today. The lost continent was in fact Antarctica, which would be impossible unless the outer shell of the Earth moved approximately 2000 miles, shifting once southern Antarctica into the polar zone. At the same time, North America was released from the Arctic Circle becoming temperate as it is known at present. Hapgood suggested that this happened around 12000 years ago, which explains the cause for the last ice age. The theory is based on Continental Drift, in which the Earth’s continents drifted apart slowly over millions of years because the outer crust floats on a semi-liquid mantle.

There is evidence for Crustal Displacement other than the ancient maps. Scientists have studied the stomach contents of preserved wooly mammoth and rhino carcasses in northern regions of Siberia and Canada to see what they ate - turns out, prior to their deaths, they had been grazing on plants only found in warm climates! Thousands of animals have been discovered frozen within a brief moment of geological time. There are also petrified forests in Antarctica... but how could the trees have grown in the first place?

Polar Shift theory is a hypothesis based on geological evidence. It states that physical north and south poles of Earth have not always been at their present-day locations, the axis of rotation had shifted.

I have some evidence to share -

I went fossil hunting at a Red Crag formation in Suffolk recently. Red Crag is marine deposits at the base of the Pleistocene, a geological epoch (timescale) which lasted between 2,588,000 - 11,700 years ago, spanning the world’s most recent period of glaciations. A glacial period is an interval of time (thousands of years) within an ice age - so this is about the time that crustal displacement would have occurred. I found out that the way to tell the difference between ancient and modern day seashells is by the direction in which the shell spirals. Modern day shells spiral in a clockwise direction, that is, they have a clockwise spiral going away from you when you view the pointed end. Ancient shells spiral in an anticlockwise direction. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the northern or southern hemisphere, spiralling is always the same. So why are they opposite? Perhaps it was caused by a polar shift.

Modern day whelk shells

A shell I found in Red Crag, please compare the two sets of pictures!

Of course, such massive changes to the Earth’s crust in such a short amount of time would be catastrophic... I hope it doesn’t happen again anytime soon... Like on the 21st December 2012...

Ice Age 4: Crustal Displacement would be a very different story!

The Ruins of Harappa

This story freaked me out a bit... enjoy!

There is a three-square mile area in Rajasthan, India, 10 miles from Jodhpur, where radiation is so intense that it has been segregated by the Indian government. There was to be a housing development in the area but a high rate of birth defects and cancer spurred an investigation, and construction ceased. Harappa, an ancient city, was discovered along with evidence of an atomic blast dating back 8000 - 12000 years, which destroyed most of the buildings.

There is a heavy layer of radioactive ash at the site. Inscriptions in nearby temples suggest people prayed to be spared from a great light that was coming to lay ruin to the city. Thousand year old skeletons were found scattered on the streets of Harappa, unburied, many holding hands. Why the bodies hadn’t decayed or been eaten by wild animals is a mystery, there was no evidence of a physically violent death either. The skeletons are among the most radioactive ever discovered, similar to those at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. One skeleton had a radioactivity level 50x greater than normal.

Other ancient cities in northern India show evidence of atomic explosions. Many have walls and foundations that have been fused together - called vitrification - caused by intense heating. There is no indication of volcanic eruption, the only other event we know of that can produce the heat required for vitrification to occur is an atomic blast. These ancient cities have been completely destroyed.

When Dr Robert Oppenheimer, chief scientist of the Manhattan Project, was asked in an interview if the Alamogordo nuclear test was the first atomic bomb ever detonated, he replied -

“Ancient cities whose brick and stonewalls have literally been vitrified, that is, fused together, can be found in India, Ireland, Scotland, France, Turkey and other places. There is no logical explanation for the vitrification of stone forts and cities, except from an atomic blast.”

The following verses are taken from the Mahabharata, an ancient Indian text from around 6500 BC, it describes some sort of blast -

…a single projectile charged with all the power of the Universe. An incandescent column of smoke and flame as bright as the thousand suns rose in all its splendour… a perpendicular explosion with its billowing smoke clouds… the cloud of smoke rising after its first explosion formed into expanding round circles like the opening of giant parasols…

The above passage sounds like a mushroom cloud to me...

“Like the opening of giant parasols”

...it was an unknown weapon, an iron thunderbolt, a gigantic messenger of death, which reduced to ashes the entire race of the Vrishnis and the Andhakas (ancient Indian clans)… The corpses were so burned as to be unrecognisable. The hair and nails fell out; Pottery broke without apparent cause, and the birds turned white. After a few hours all foodstuffs were infected... to escape from this fire the soldiers threw themselves in streams to wash themselves and their equipment.

“The hair and nails fell out” sounds like radiation sickness...

Those who wrote the Mahabharata obviously didn’t understand the technology being used here, “It was an unknown weapon, an iron thunderbolt”. The ancient Indian texts describe Gods being transported by flying chariots or ‘vimanas’, they even describe warfare using vimanas. The vimanas were said to travel in Earth’s atmosphere, under water and into outer space. I think the Gods were actually
aliens, and that atomic bombs were used by waring alien factions during arial battles.

The Money Pit

I thought I might talk about the ‘Money Pit’ today.

Oak Island - situated just off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada - is home to the so-called ‘Money’ or ‘Treasure Pit’. The pit was originally discovered in 1795 by three teenagers who had observed lights coming from the island, odd considering the island was uninhabited. They found a circular depression in a clearing, adjacent was a tree with a tackle block (pulley system) attached to its branches. When they excavated the depression they uncovered a layer of flagstones (flat stones, like paving), then layers of logs every 10 feet (3 metres).

There are materials in the Money Pit that shouldn’t be there. A drill probe used in 1849 encountered multiple layers of charcoal, putty and coconut fibre - there are no coconut trees on Oak Island! At 98 feet, excavators found a spruce platform with two oak chests containing loose metal pieces. Digging deeper in 1897, layers of wood and iron, a 30 foot layer of blue clay (a hand-worked watertight mixture of clay, sand and water), a 7 foot deep cement vault at 153 feet and an iron barrier at 171 feet were discovered.

As well as the many barriers preventing treasure hunters from reaching the bottom of the Money Pit, an elaborate hydraulics system, underground channels that connect to the ocean, causes the pit to flood during excavation. Red paint poured into the pit revealed three separate exit holes around the island, one exit hole is over 500 feet away.

According to one of the earliest written accounts, a large stone, known as the Cipher stone, was recovered at 80-90 feet (24-27 m). Inscribed upon the stone were strange symbols, translated - “Forty feet below two million pounds is buried” (I find that ‘forty’ tends to mean an unknown number). The pit subsequently flooded up to 33 feet (10 m).

200 years and 6 deaths later the Money Pit has been excavated to a depth of almost 200 feet. There are many theories as to what lies at the bottom of the Money Pit -

Some speculate the pit might hold pirate treasure buried in the early 18th century by Captain Kidd who frequently visited the region, or by Edward Teach (Blackbeard) who claimed he buried his treasure
"where none but Satan and myself can find it”. Others think Kidd conspired with Henry Every (Long Ben), perpetrator of the most profitable pirate raid in history, and used Oak Island to store their plundered riches.

Blackbeard himself

Some think British troops constructed the pit to keep treasure safe during the American Revolution. Others believe the structure to be French and naval in style, built to contain treasures from the Fortress of Louisbourg, before it fell to the British during the Seven Years’ War. One story tells of the French crown jewels, belonging to Marie Antoinette at the time, being smuggled to Louisbourg during the French Revolution. Since Louisbourg was frequently attacked by the British, the jewels were hidden on Oak Island instead. The French crown jewels have been missing since that time.

Some speculate that the original works of William Shakespeare were buried there by English philosopher Sir Francis Bacon, along with documents proving him to be the author of Shakespeare’s plays. It has also been asserted that the pit may be the last resting place of the Holy Grail or the Ark of the Covenant, hidden by exiled Knights Templar who initially fled to Scotland.

The Battle of Los Angeles

I thought I’d talk about ‘The Battle of Los Angeles’.

To set the scene: America had been shaken by the attack on Pearl Harbour on December 7th 1941, which caused their entry into WW2. The military was on red alert, constantly surveying the skies anticipating Japanese aerial attack. In the early hours of the morning on February 25th 1942, a sighting over Los Angeles, California triggered an anti-aircraft artillery barrage - sirens bellowed as the military open-fired on the unidentified aircraft seen moving across the night sky. Searchlights illuminated the area, which was just as well because the city was blacked out between 2.25 - 7.21 am.

No bombs were dropped and, despite hours of shooting, no airplanes shot down. Four died in all and only two people were reported wounded by falling shrapnel, lucky considering the tons of missiles fired into the air.

Although The Army’s Western Defence Command insisted that the blackout and anti-aircraft action was the result of an unidentified aircraft sighted over the beach area, Frank Knox, Secretary of the Navy in Washington, attributed the activity to a false alarm and ‘jittery nerves’. Hundreds of thousands of people saw the strange object while it was clearly locked in the focus of dozens of searchlights for over 30 minutes -
